Appraisers

How can appraisers benefit from energy audits?
Appraisers have been impacted by changing mortgage guidelines more than most. Many have seen their work load increase while the money they make per appraisal go down because of the sharing of revenue with a management company. Many appraisers have found by adding energy audits to their core business has been a major boom for business. Pleas review the following article put out by Working RE.

How will Energy Audits help grow my business immediately?
Lows and Home Debut are having some of their best years. Why do you think this is the case? The answer is because people can't sell their current home to by another home, so they are choosing to upgrade their current residence. What many people do not understand is how many incentives exist to retrofit their home. Most families are leaving thousands of dollars on the table by not following the proper steps. American green Homes can show you how to use your current database to help educate your past consumers and drive business today.

What more does American Green Homes do for Raters?
AGH support system goes beyond training and oversight of Raters and HERs index energy audits. AGH Rater support includes sales, marketing, and strategic networking concepts to help you start or grow your business (Ex. How to approach a homeowner with education about taking advantage of tax incentives for home improvement upgrades).

EEMs, EIMs, and 203K?
With funding sources being scarce more lenders are turning to special programs to get an advantage. EEMs (Energy Efficient Mortgage), EIMs (Energy Improvement Mortgages) and the 203K are pilot programs for the major government run entities fannie mae, freddie mac and FHA. By 2015 all government sponsored loans will require an energy audit as part of the underwriting process.

Appraiser testimony.
I like many appraisers first looked into becoming an accredited energy, RESNET Rater to diversify and take back control of my income stream as an appraiser. I became an accredited HERS and EnergyStar™ auditor through the excellent training course provided by American Green Homes. The course was practical, well-organized, and successfully prepared me for both the accreditation test and real-world field work. Because of this accreditation, I have completed 17 extra appraisals I would not have received otherwise.  Also, I was able to complete Before and After energy audits on each property – to nearly triple my income on each location.  Further, thanks to my Sencorp relationship, I am going to receive an additional revenue stream for my referral and oversight work.   Spencer R.
